It's not just language.
Wherever I go, when I say Korean, people respond with 'Ah~'. Sometimes, 'Wow!' I also hear the reaction. It seems that there are not many people who have not heard of Korea these days. Most people know accurate information, even with little information, and tend to talk, but there are some cases of 'knowing poorly'.
"Hello, I'm from Korea."
"Oh, nice to meet you."

단순히 언어뿐만이 아니다. 어딜 가나 내가 한국인이라고 하면 사람들의 반응은 '아~'으로 시작한다. 때로는 '와우!' 라는 반응도 듣는다. 요즘 한국에 대해서 들어보지 않은 사람들은 딱히 없는 듯 하다. 대부분의 사람들은 적은 정보라도 적확한 정보를 알고, 이야기를 나누는 편이지만 일부 '어설프게 아는 경우'가 종종 있다.
"안녕하세요, 저는 한국에서 왔습니다."
"오 반가워요. (닌자의 인사/합장을 하며.)"
그럴때마다 나는 간절히 속으로 외친다.
'그거 아니야!!'

Wohin ich auch gehe, wenn ich Koreanisch sage, antworten die Leute mit „Ah~“. Manchmal „Wow!“ Ich höre auch die Reaktion. Es scheint, dass es heutzutage nicht viele Menschen gibt, die noch nichts von Korea gehört haben. Die meisten Menschen kennen genaue Informationen, selbst mit wenig Informationen, und neigen dazu zu sprechen, aber es gibt einige Fälle von „schlechtem Wissen“.

There are many people who ignore the 'correct' information and apply only the information they want to receive and apply it distortedly. One example is Weeaboo. There is no problem in itself to enjoy Japanese cultural contents with a favorable impression. However, warpanies tend to be overly immersed and accept distorted information and misrepresent it as true.
Of course, this can also be explained with the term 'stereotype'. If you go up to the root of the origin in the first place, 'ignorance of the East' is at the bottom. This is something that is unavoidable. It's not wrong not to know. But it is wrong to pretend to know and spread false information without knowing it. Since there are many examples of creating or enjoying content without properly distinguishing the cultures of Korea, China, and Japan, it is quite unfortunate and worrying from the point of view of the three countries.
'제대로 된' 정보를 도외시 하고 자신이 받아들이고 싶은 정보만 취사선택하여 왜곡적용하는 사람들이 많다. 그 한 예가 와패니즈(Weeaboo)이다. 본래 일본의 문화콘텐츠에 호감을 가지고 향유하는 것 자체에는 문제가 없다. 하지만 와패니즈들은 과도하게 몰입하고 왜곡된 정보를 받아들여 그것이 사실인 양 호도하는 경우를 보인다.
물론, 이는 '스테레오타입'이라는 말로도 설명이 가능하다. 애초에 그 근원을 찾아 올라가보면 '동양에 대한 무지'가 저변에 깔려있다. 이는 뭐 어쩔 수 없는 것이긴 하다. 모르는 것이 잘못은 아니니까. 근데 제대로 모르면서 아는 척 하며 잘못된 정보를 퍼뜨리는건 잘못이다. 한중일 3국의 문화에 대해 제대로 된 구분을 하지 못하고 콘텐츠를 만들거나 향유하는 사례가 여럿 보이기 때문에, 보는 입장에선 상당히 아쉽고 신경쓰인다.
Es gibt viele Menschen, die die „richtigen“ Informationen ignorieren und nur die Informationen anwenden, die sie erhalten möchten, und sie verzerrt anwenden. Ein Beispiel ist Weeaboo. Es ist an sich kein Problem, japanische Kulturinhalte mit positivem Eindruck zu genießen. Warpanies neigen jedoch dazu, zu sehr in die Materie einzutauchen und verzerrte Informationen zu akzeptieren und sie fälschlicherweise als wahr darzustellen.
Dies lässt sich natürlich auch mit dem Begriff „Stereotyp“ erklären. Geht man von Anfang an auf die Wurzel des Ursprungs, so liegt die „Unkenntnis des Ostens“ ganz unten. Dies ist etwas, das unvermeidlich ist. Es ist nicht falsch, es nicht zu wissen. Aber es ist falsch, vorzugeben, es zu wissen und falsche Informationen zu verbreiten, ohne es zu wissen. Da es viele Beispiele für das Erstellen oder Genießen von Inhalten gibt, ohne die Kulturen Koreas, Chinas und Japans richtig zu unterscheiden, ist dies aus Sicht der drei Länder ziemlich bedauerlich und besorgniserregend.
A prime example of this is Lego Ninjago. My children also liked it, so I used to watch or play with them, but I'm not sure if this is a Western ninja cosplay, Japanese style, or Chinese style. It's just that all stereotypes about the East are put in, but there's no problem in selling it because it only has to give a mysterious feeling to the viewers. For example, if a panda wears geta, is it Chinese or Japanese? If you use Erhu to make Japanese music, is it Japanese or Chinese?
In the same context, it is often seen that Korean cultural contents are confused with those of other countries. We are in the information age, where relevant information is pouring out just by looking for a little bit. With the development of technology, a word spreads rapidly around the world, and a single piece of information is viewed by hundreds of millions of people. However, because of this, false information also spreads very quickly. The speed is fast, but sometimes errors are not corrected because of the annoyance and indifference of the users. The more it is, the more desperately people who know right need to try to correct errors or disseminate correct information.
그 대표적인 사례가 레고 닌자고이다. 필자의 아이도 좋아해서 필자 역시 함께 보거나 놀곤 했지만, 이게 서양의 닌자 코스프레인지 일본풍인지 중국풍인지 헷갈린다. 동양에 대한 스테레오타입들을 다 넣은 것에 불과한데, 이게 보는 이들에게는 신비한 느낌을 주기만 하면 되는거라 막상 팔아먹는데는 별 문제가 없다. 예를 들어 팬더가 게다를 신고 다니면 그건 중국풍인가 일본풍인가? 일본음악을 만든다고 얼후로 만든 음악을 사용하면 그건 일본풍인가 중국풍인가?
마찬가지의 맥락에서, 한국의 문화콘텐츠를 타국의 것과 헷갈리는 상황을 종종 볼 수 있다. 조금만 찾아봐도 바로 제대로 된 관련 정보들이 쏟아져 나오는 정보화시대이다. 기술의 발달로 한 마디가 전 세계로 빠르게 퍼지기도 하고, 한 정보를 수억명이 보기도 한다. 그러나 그렇기 때문에 잘못된 정보 역시 확산되는 속도가 매우 빠르다. 속도는 빠르지만, 가끔은 향유자들의 귀찮음과 무관심 때문에 오류의 정정이 이뤄지지 않는 경우도 있다. 그럴수록 올바로 아는 사람들이 오류를 바로잡거나 올바른 정보를 배포하려는 노력이 절실하게 필요하다는 것이다.
Ein Paradebeispiel dafür ist Lego Ninjago. Meinen Kindern gefiel es auch, also habe ich ihnen zugesehen oder mit ihnen gespielt, aber ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob dies ein westliches Ninja-Cosplay im japanischen oder im chinesischen Stil ist. Es sind nur alle Stereotypen über den Osten eingebaut, aber es ist kein Problem, ihn zu verkaufen, weil er beim Zuschauer nur ein mysteriöses Gefühl vermitteln muss. Wenn zum Beispiel ein Panda Geta trägt, ist es chinesisch oder japanisch? Wenn du Erhu verwendest, um japanische Musik zu machen, ist es dann japanisch oder chinesisch?
Im gleichen Zusammenhang wird häufig beobachtet, dass koreanische Kulturinhalte mit denen anderer Länder verwechselt werden. Wir befinden uns im Informationszeitalter, in dem relevante Informationen nur durch das Suchen nach einem kleinen bisschen herausströmen. Mit der Entwicklung der Technologie verbreitet sich ein Wort schnell auf der ganzen Welt, und eine einzelne Information wird von Hunderten von Millionen Menschen angesehen. Allerdings verbreiten sich dadurch auch sehr schnell Falschinformationen. Die Geschwindigkeit ist schnell, aber manchmal werden Fehler wegen der Verärgerung und Gleichgültigkeit der Benutzer nicht korrigiert. Je mehr es ist, desto verzweifelter müssen Menschen, die das Richtige wissen, versuchen, Fehler zu korrigieren oder korrekte Informationen zu verbreiten.
The Hallyu market has just begun to explode globally, and there is probably a reason why everyone doesn't know what to do as it is an unstructured market. However, the person who 'should' do the right role - the role of sharing information they know well - should not be ignorant. I think that is negligence. Everyone, regardless of whether the role is the government or the people, should make the utmost effort in his/her position. You need to find a way, give direction, and strive to improve. There are still some disappointing parts, but I look forward to getting better in the future.
한류 시장이 이제 막 세계적으로 폭발하기 시작한, 정형화 되지 않은 시장이라 모두들 어떻게 해야할 지 모르는 까닭도 있을 듯 하다. 하지만, 제대로 된 역할 -자신이 제대로 아는 정보를 공유하는 역할-을 '해야하는 사람'은 몰라서는 안된다. 그건 직무유기라고 생각한다. 그 역할을 정부, 국민 가릴 것 없이 누구든 자기의 위치에서 최대한 노력해야 한다. 활로를 찾고, 방향을 제시하고, 발전하기 위해 노력해야 한다. 아직도 아쉬운 부분들이 있지만, 앞으로 더 나아지기를 기대해본다.
Der Hallyu-Markt hat gerade begonnen, weltweit zu explodieren, und es gibt wahrscheinlich einen Grund, warum jeder nicht weiß, was er tun soll, da es sich um einen unstrukturierten Markt handelt. Jedoch sollte die Person, die die richtige Rolle übernehmen „sollte“ – die Rolle des Teilens von Informationen, die sie gut kennt – nicht unwissend sein. Ich denke, das ist Fahrlässigkeit. Jeder, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um die Regierung oder das Volk handelt, sollte in seiner Position die größtmögliche Anstrengung unternehmen. Sie müssen einen Weg finden, eine Richtung vorgeben und danach streben, sich zu verbessern. Es gibt immer noch einige enttäuschende Teile, aber ich freue mich darauf, in Zukunft besser zu werden.
