I love surrealism. Salvador Dali and Zdzisław Beksiński are a couple of definite role models of mine. Salvador Dali has always been one of my favorite artists and a lot of what I do is inspired by his work. I also really admire some artists, including Rene Alvarado and an 'Inside a Ginger' whose collage work is absolutely amazing!
What I am usually going for is some kind of optical illusion with a dream-like quality that includes elements of nature and the human body, along with something creepy or make people strange a little. I try to combine images in a way where they look like they were there to begin with because they are similar in shape, lighting or color. I want things to look organic and natural but also strange and bizarre. I want to make people saying - not only 'What the?' but also 'Whoah! That’s amazing!'.

Ich liebe Surrealismus. Salvador Dali und Zdzisław Beksiński sind ein paar definitive Vorbilder von mir. Ich bewundere auch einige Künstler sehr, darunter Rene Alvarado und ein „Inside a Ginger“, dessen Collagearbeit absolut erstaunlich ist!
Was ich normalerweise anstrebe, ist eine Art optische Täuschung mit einer traumartigen Qualität, die Elemente der Natur und des menschlichen Körpers enthält, zusammen mit etwas Gruseligem oder etwas, das die Menschen ein wenig seltsam macht. Creativity is a part of me. It makes me keeping being sane. Doing what I love to do absolutely makes me a better person.
Life is really busy, but I have learned to carve out time for Art because I have realized it literally keeps me sane. For a while, I had lost my artistic side, and when I found it again it was incredible. It was like... then I knew “This is what I am supposed to be doing.” Now I make more of an effort than ever to create artworks as much as possible. It is what I am here for.

Kreativität ist ein Teil von mir. Es lässt mich bei Verstand bleiben. Das zu tun, was ich gerne tue, macht mich absolut zu einem besseren Menschen.
Das Leben ist sehr beschäftigt, aber ich habe gelernt, mir Zeit für die Kunst zu nehmen, weil ich erkannt habe, dass sie mich buchstäblich bei Verstand hält. Für eine Weile hatte ich meine künstlerische Seite verloren, und als ich sie wiederfand, war es unglaublich. Es war wie … dann wusste ich: „Das ist, was ich tun soll.“ Jetzt bemühe ich mich mehr denn je, so viele Kunstwerke wie möglich zu schaffen. Dafür bin ich hier.
I think my main artistic strength is 'versatile'.
I love so working with many different mediums (pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, silversmithing, Jewel, collage, paper mache, printmaking etc.) that sometimes I feel like I have Artistic ADD!! With them, I know how to do so many different artworks, I am very detailed, and can work fairly quickly. And I love a artistic challenge. Later, include creating a website where I can sell my artwork and jewelry, doing more portrait photography, it would be amazing to do book illustrations with Poet Friend. I also would love to reconnect with artist friend and do some collaboration work, either painting or jewelry, or maybe mixed media. That is a collaboration I would love to do. And there are lots of other ideas I have as well, including getting my own exhibition in an Art gallery, and doing more art/craft fairs. These are just a few goals of mine, it's a kind of Artistic ADD I mentioned before!

Ich denke, meine größte künstlerische Stärke ist „Vielseitigkeit“.
Ich liebe es so sehr, mit vielen verschiedenen Medien zu arbeiten (Bleistift, Aquarell, Acrylfarbe, Silberschmiedekunst, Juwelen, Collage, Pappmaché, Druckgrafik usw.), dass ich manchmal das Gefühl habe, eine künstlerische ADD zu haben!! Mit ihnen weiß ich, wie man so viele verschiedene Kunstwerke macht, ich bin sehr detailliert und kann ziemlich schnell arbeiten. Und ich liebe künstlerische Herausforderungen. Später, einschließlich der Erstellung einer Website, auf der ich meine Kunstwerke und meinen Schmuck verkaufen kann, mehr Porträtfotografie, es wäre großartig, Buchillustrationen mit Poet Friend zu machen. Ich würde mich auch gerne wieder mit einem befreundeten Künstler in Verbindung setzen und einige Zusammenarbeitsarbeiten durchführen, entweder Malerei oder Schmuck oder vielleicht gemischte Medien. Most of what I have been working on recently is collage. Specifically when it comes to collage, the charm is finding the exact image that fits together with another one. It makes me feel complete…like I solved the puzzle. It is so exciting to me.
For collage, I tear out pages and save them. I go through lots of magazines, specifically National Geographics but also fashion magazines, science magazines and anything else that peaks my curiosity. I also love finding old books at thrift stores or yard sales that have cool images and using those as well.
At some point, an idea will pop into my head, and then…it’s ON!!! I start laying everything out to see how it will fit together, and I move things around A LOT to get the perfect composition. Once I have everything perfect, I then take it apart piece by piece and then take photos every scene as I “go back to backwards”. There are certain pieces that overlap other pieces and I need to see how they all fit next to each other underneath. So I don’t glue too soon, because if I do, there is no going back. I have to be super careful as I planned.
This process is very detailed and meticulous. I use a soft brush and a brayer to lay each piece down, with mattmedium. I usually have to wash the brush and brayer in between every steps so I don’t end up with a sticky brayer.

어느 시점에서 아이디어가 내 머리에 떠오른 다음 ... 켜집니다!!! 나는 모든 것이 어떻게 어울릴지 보기 위해 모든 것을 배치하기 시작하고 완벽한 구성을 얻기 위해 많은 것을 이리저리 움직입니다. 모든 것이 완벽해지면 한 조각씩 분해한 다음 "뒤로 돌아가"면서 모든 장면을 사진으로 찍습니다. 다른 조각과 겹치는 특정 조각이 있으며 아래에서 모두 어떻게 맞춰지는지 확인해야 합니다. 그래서 나는 너무 빨리 접착제를 바르지 않습니다. 접착제를 붙이면 되돌릴 수 없기 때문입니다. 내가 계획한대로 매우 조심해야합니다.

Das meiste, woran ich in letzter Zeit gearbeitet habe, sind Collagen. Gerade bei Collagen liegt der Reiz darin, genau das Bild zu finden, das zu einem anderen passt. Es gibt mir das Gefühl, vollständig zu sein … als hätte ich das Rätsel gelöst. Es ist so aufregend für mich.
Für Collagen reiße ich Seiten heraus und hebe sie auf. Ich gehe viele Zeitschriften durch, insbesondere National Geographics, aber auch Modemagazine, Wissenschaftsmagazine und alles andere, was meine Neugier weckt. Ich liebe es auch, alte Bücher in Secondhand-Läden oder auf Flohmärkten zu finden, die coole Bilder haben, und diese auch zu verwenden.
Irgendwann schießt mir eine Idee durch den Kopf, und dann… es geht los!!! Ich fange an, alles auszubreiten, um zu sehen, wie es zusammenpassen wird, und ich bewege die Dinge VIEL, um die perfekte Komposition zu erhalten. Wenn alles perfekt ist, nehme ich es Stück für Stück auseinander und fotografiere dann jede Szene, während ich „zurück zum Rückwärtsgang“ gehe. Es gibt bestimmte Stücke, die andere Stücke überlappen, und ich muss sehen, wie sie alle darunter nebeneinander passen. Also klebe ich nicht zu früh, denn wenn ich es tue, gibt es kein Zurück mehr. Ich muss super vorsichtig sein, wie ich es geplant hatte.
Dieser Prozess ist sehr detailliert und akribisch. Ich benutze einen weichen Pinsel und einen Brayer, um jedes Stück mit Mattmedium aufzutragen. Normalerweise muss ich die Bürste und den Brayer zwischen jedem Schritt waschen, damit ich am Ende keinen klebrigen Brayer habe.
I get my inspiration from nature (so vast and amazing and beautiful)and the human body (so incredible and mystery).
I especially love the ocean, as it is so vast and gorgeous and truly amazing. It is like another world on Earth with aliens that live in the water. Also I think the female body especially is so beautiful and curvy and the creator of life. It is so inspiring and incredible.
I know plenty of people think I’m weird, but that’s ok. I’m comfortable with my weirdness. Most of the amazing and positive feedback I receive is from other artists, from my own friends and family. I am so lucky to have had the type of support I have. Sometimes my daughter and husband often help me with creative decisions when I am having a hard time figuring things out. Also my daughter is my biggest fan. She tells me all the time that she loves how my brain works and that she is in awe of my artistic abilities. My entire family is very supportive and always has been when it comes to my passion for Art.
In my 45 years on this planet, I have made a lot of Art! Even now my brain is literally flooding with ideas right now. I guess if I was leaving behind only one piece after my life, the meaning behind that piece would be something very all-encompassing and unifying, and also very true from my heart. Ich hole meine Inspiration aus der Natur (so groß und erstaunlich und schön) und dem menschlichen Körper (so unglaublich und mysteriös).
Ich liebe besonders das Meer, weil es so riesig und wunderschön und wirklich erstaunlich ist. Es ist wie eine andere Welt auf der Erde mit Außerirdischen, die im Wasser leben. Außerdem finde ich gerade den weiblichen Körper so schön und kurvig und der Schöpfer des Lebens. Es ist so inspirierend und unglaublich.
Ich weiß, dass viele Leute denken, dass ich komisch bin, aber das ist ok. Ich fühle mich wohl mit meiner Verrücktheit. Die meisten erstaunlichen und positiven Rückmeldungen, die ich erhalte, stammen von anderen Künstlern, von meinen eigenen Freunden und meiner Familie. Ich bin so glücklich, die Art von Unterstützung zu haben, die ich habe. Manchmal helfen mir meine Tochter und mein Mann oft bei kreativen Entscheidungen, wenn ich Schwierigkeiten habe, Dinge herauszufinden. Auch meine Tochter ist mein größter Fan.
