Hello, I am Seongbin Kim, active under the name of Mad Kim or Mad Mad. I divide myself into two roles: Seongbin, who collects and observes his inspiration, and Mad, who turns his emotions into a work of art and reveals them to the world. By dividing myself in two, I make appropriate adjustments to the work, and through the process, I constantly ask questions about the perfection and depth of the work.
안녕하세요, 매드김, 또는 매드매드라는 이명으로 활동하는 김성빈 입니다. 저는 제 스스로를 영감을 수집하고 관찰하는 성빈과 그 감정을 작품화하여 세상에 드러내는 매드라는 두 역할로 나누고 있습니다. 스스로를 둘로 나눔으로써 작품의 적절한 완급 조절을 하고 그 공정을 통해 작품의 완성도와 깊이에 대해 끊임없이 질문을 던지게 되는 겁니다.
Hallo, ich bin Seongbin Kim, aktiv unter dem Namen Mad Kim oder Mad Mad. Ich unterteile mich in zwei Rollen: Seongbin, der seine Inspiration sammelt und beobachtet, und Mad, der seine Emotionen in ein Kunstwerk verwandelt und der Welt offenbart. Indem ich mich zweiteile, passe ich die Arbeit entsprechend an und stelle während des Prozesses ständig Fragen zur Perfektion und Tiefe der Arbeit.

개안매드 (MAD opened his eyes)
There are three main themes of my works: people broken by internally condensed emotions, the world Mad sees, and the people I am interested in. These three things will help me a lot in understanding my work. In the past, through the work, the focus was on the simple melancholy represented by the slogan, "Watch your melancholy." However, since two years ago, I have been trying to express the inner side of depressed people a lot, and recently I am trying to express a more objectified portrait of self-hatred people like Menhera, who are abandoned or about to be abandoned by love.
(Manhera: Like a yandere, it refers to a person who has a strong attachment to love with others, but unlike a yandere, the direction of action is towards oneself.)
제 작품들의 주제들은 크게 세 가지인데, 내적으로 응축된 감정으로 고장 나버린 사람들, 그리고 매드가 바라보는 세상, 그리고 제가 관심을 가지는 인물들입니다. 이 세 가지가 제 작품을 이해하는데 큰 도움이 될 겁니다. 작품을 통해 예전에는 "너희들의 우울을 관망한다."라는 슬로건으로 대변되는 단순한 우울함에 치중돼 있었습니다. 그러나 2년 전부터 우울한 사람들의 내면을 많이 표현하려 하고 있고, 최근에는 좀 더 대상화되어 멘헤라 같은 자기혐오, 사랑에서 버림받거나 버려지려 하는 대상들의 초상을 표현하려 하고 있습니다.
(맨헤라: 얀데레와 같이 타인과의 사랑에 대한 집착이 강한 사람을 뜻하나, 얀데레와는 달리 행동의 방향이 자기자신을 향한다.)
Es gibt drei Hauptthemen meiner Arbeiten: Menschen, die von innerlich verdichteten Emotionen zerbrochen sind, die Welt, die Mad sieht, und die Menschen, die mich interessieren. Diese drei Dinge werden mir sehr helfen, meine Arbeit zu verstehen. In der Vergangenheit lag der Fokus bei der Arbeit auf der einfachen Melancholie, die durch den Slogan "Pass auf deine Melancholie auf" repräsentiert wird. Seit zwei Jahren versuche ich jedoch viel, die innere Seite depressiver Menschen auszudrücken, und in letzter Zeit versuche ich, ein objektivierteres Porträt von selbsthassenden Menschen wie Menhera auszudrücken, die von der liebe verlassen werden oder kurz davor stehen, verlassen zu werden.
(Manhera: Wie ein Yandere bezieht es sich auf eine Person, die eine starke Bindung zur Liebe zu anderen hat, aber im Gegensatz zu einem Yandere ist die Richtung der Handlung auf sich selbst gerichtet.)

썩은 석류는 쓰레기다 (Rotten pomegranate is garbage)
Occasionally, people who look at my work comment that I am deceiving people by using my melancholy emotions, and others say that my rough brushstrokes are attractive. Also, on the other hand, I am told that I can empathize with my paintings and set an example for others. No matter what kind of reviews my paintings receive, what Sungbin and Mad want to express will remain unchanged.
때때로 제 작품을 보시는 분들은 제가 우울한 감정을 이용해 사람들을 기만하는 것이 아니냐는 평을 하시기도 하고 거칠은 붓터치가 매력적이란 표현을 해주시기도 합니다. 또한 한편으론 제 그림에 공감이 되면서 다른 이의 귀감이 된다는 얘기를 듣기도 합니다. 제 그림이 어떠한 평을 받든지 간에 성빈과 매드가 표현 하고 싶어하는 것은 변함 없이 계속 표현될겁니다.
Gelegentlich kommentieren Leute, die sich meine Arbeiten ansehen, dass ich die Leute täusche, indem ich meine melancholischen Emotionen nutze, und andere sagen, dass meine groben Pinselstriche attraktiv sind. Andererseits wird mir auch gesagt, dass ich mich in meine Bilder einfühlen und anderen ein Vorbild sein kann. Egal, welche Kritiken meine Bilder erhalten, das, was Sungbin und Mad ausdrücken wollen, wird unverändert bleiben.
깊은 한모금 (A Deep Breath)
I think the driving force behind my work is the tenacity and regularity of an office worker. I believe that the words I always have in my heart are to prove if I love them, and that proof must be filled with effort. Although I spit and break a lot of words, I try to keep the saying that I work diligently and steadily, so I think consistency is the biggest strength and my ego itself.
제 작품 활동의 원동력은 마치 회사원과 같은 끈질기고 규칙적인 근성이라고 봅니다. 제가 늘 마음에 품는 말은 사랑한다면 증명해야 하고 그 증명은 노력으로 채워야 한다고 봅니다. 제가 수많은 말을 뱉고 어기며 살지만 근성있게 꾸준히 작업한다는 말은 지키려 노력하기에 꾸준함이 가장 큰 장점이자 저의 에고 그 자체라고 생각합니다.
Ich denke, die treibende Kraft hinter meiner Arbeit ist die Beharrlichkeit und Regelmäßigkeit eines Büroangestellten. Ich glaube, dass die Worte, die ich immer in meinem Herzen habe, beweisen sollen, ob ich sie liebe, und dieser Beweis muss mit Anstrengung gefüllt werden. Obwohl ich viele Worte spucke und breche, versuche ich, den Spruch aufrechtzuerhalten, dass ich fleißig und stetig arbeite, daher denke ich, dass Beständigkeit die größte Stärke und mein Ego selbst ist.

These days, my current situation is preparing for a solo exhibition in early November, and unlike last year, this year is a project that I planned from the beginning to the end. From then on, as always, I will try to become a writer who proves with my sincerity.

요즘 제 근황은 11월 초에 개인전을 준비 중에 있고 작년과는 다르게 올해는 오래간만에 처음부터 끝까지 제가 전시부터 공간까지 기획한 프로젝트로서 있는 힘껏 날것 느낌의 전시를 보여드리고자 합니다. 이후 늘 그렇듯이 근성으로 증명하는 작가가 되려 노력하고자 합니다.
끝까지 관심을 가지고 얽어 주신 여러분, 참 힘든 시기입니다. 그럼에도 사랑하는 것을 분명히 하며 삽시다. 근성은 배신하지 않습니다. 이상, 이성적이고 도도하고 피 한 방울 안 나오는 냉혈한 매드매드 김성빈, 매드김이었습니다. 감사합니다.
In diesen Tagen bereitet ich mich auf eine Einzelausstellung Anfang November vor, und anders als letztes Jahr ist dieses Jahr ein Projekt, das ich von Anfang bis Ende geplant habe. Von da an werde ich wie immer versuchen, ein Schriftsteller zu werden, der meine Aufrichtigkeit beweist.
Es ist eine sehr schwierige Zeit für alle, die bis zum Ende interessiert und verstrickt waren. Lasst uns dem Leben dennoch klar machen, was wir lieben. Willenskraft verrät einen nicht. Es war ein rationaler, arroganter, kaltblütiger verrückter MADMad Kim Seong-bin, aka Mad Kim.
