Hello. I am Petits pieds, an illustrator who writes a picture book with a character called 'Petits pieds' and runs a custom design store 'Petits pieds House'. From childhood, I loved drawing imaginary friends, making up stories and playing alone. I majored in fine art in Korea, but I wanted to do an activity that could communicate more with the public. Realizing that it was the field of illustration, I went to London to study illustration. In the meantime, I have been working on painting, drawing, and printmaking, and lately I have been working mainly on digital drawings.
안녕하세요. 저는 'Petits Pieds(이하 쁘띠 삐에, 프랑스어로 작은 발)'라는 캐릭터가 담긴 그림책을 쓰고, 커스터마이징 디자인스토어 '쁘띠삐에 하우스'를 운영하는 일러스트레이터 쁘띠삐에입니다. 유년 시절부터 상상의 친구들을 그려서 이야기를 만들고 혼자 놀기를 좋아했습니다. 한국에서 순수미술을 전공했지만 보다 더 대중적인 소통이 가능한 활동을 하고 싶었고, 그것이 일러스트레이션 분야라는 것을 깨닫고 런던으로 건너가 일러스트레이션을 공부하였습니다. 그동안 페인팅과 드로잉, 판화 작업을 해왔고, 최근에는 디지털 드로잉 위주로 작업하고 있습니다.
Hallo. Ich bin Petits pieds, ein Illustrator, der ein Bilderbuch mit einer Figur namens 'Petits pieds' schreibt und einen Custom-Design-Shop 'Petits pieds House' betreibt. Von Kindheit an liebte ich es, imaginäre Freunde zu zeichnen, Geschichten zu erfinden und alleine zu spielen. Ich habe bildende Kunst in Korea studiert, aber ich wollte eine Aktivität machen, die mehr mit der Öffentlichkeit kommunizieren kann. Da ich erkannte, dass es der Bereich der Illustration war, ging ich nach London, um Illustration zu studieren. In der Zwischenzeit beschäftige ich mich mit Malerei, Zeichnung und Druckgrafik und in letzter Zeit hauptsächlich mit digitalen Zeichnungen.
A few years ago, my father said to me, "I don't know what you're talking about." After that, the publication of a picture book became an opportunity to convey my intentions more clearly through my work. Through my illustrations and my characters, I try to witly convey topics such as stories about situations and relationships I have experienced directly or indirectly, healthy eating, environmental issues, social absurdity, and messages about the importance and value of the community. Also, I have published a total of three books, from 'The Story of a Honey Badger', which dealt with the problem of anger control disorder in 2018, to 'Walking Birds Asking Questions about Happiness' in 2020. (Right now, my father gives me the greatest support.)
몇 년전 아버지께서 저에게 '나는 네가 뭘 말하려는지 모르겠다' 고 말씀하신 적이 있습니다. 그 후 그림책을 출판한 것이 좀더 분명하게 작품으로 제 의도를 전달할 수 있는 계기가 되었습니다. 저는 제 일러스트들과 제 캐릭터를 통해 제가 그동안 직간접적으로 겪은 상황과 관계에 대한 이야기들, 건강한 식생활, 환경문제, 사회 부조리 그리고 커뮤니티의 중요성과 가치에 대한 메세지 등의 주제들을 위트있게 전달하려 합니다. 또한 저는 2018년 분노조절 장애 문제를 다룬 '꿀 오소리 이야기' 부터 2020년 '행복에 대한 질문을 던지는 걸어 다니는 새'까지 총 3권의 책을 냈으며, 현재 신작의 출판 준비 작업을 하고 있습니다. (지금은 아버지께서 가장 큰 지지를 보내주십니다.)
Vor einigen Jahren sagte mein Vater zu mir: "Ich weiß nicht, wovon du redest." Danach war die Veröffentlichung eines Bilderbuches eine Gelegenheit, meine Absichten durch meine Arbeit klarer zu vermitteln. Durch meine Illustrationen und meine Charaktere versuche ich, Themen wie Geschichten über Situationen und Beziehungen, die ich direkt oder indirekt erlebt habe, gesunde Ernährung, Umweltthemen, soziale Absurdität und Botschaften über die Bedeutung und den Wert der Gemeinschaft witzig zu vermitteln. Außerdem habe ich insgesamt drei Bücher veröffentlicht, von „The Story of a Honey Badger“, die sich 2018 mit dem Problem der Wutkontrollstörung beschäftigte, bis zu „Walking Birds Asking Questions about Happiness“ im Jahr 2020.

The biggest attraction of this activity is that I can pour out my affection and passion as long as I have the strength left. Also, there are advantages to being able to visually express my thoughts and feelings while doing this job and to be able to communicate with people, and to always have an open mind that never grows old by free thinking and imagining. Unlike pretty pictures, they show reactions that the content is heavy, but I think my greatest charm as an artist is that I can easily communicate with people even with heavy content using unique cute characters and neat storylines.
이 활동의 가장 큰 매력은 제게 힘이 남아 있는 한 얼마든지 애정과 열정을 쏟을 수 있는 것입니다. 또한 이 일을 하며 제가 느끼는 생각들과 느낌을 시각적으로 풀어내고 사람들과 소통할 수 있다는 것, 그리고 자유로운 발상과 상상을 함으로써 항상 늙지 않는 열린 사고를 가지게 된다는 장점들이 있습니다. 예쁜 그림과 다르게 내용이 무겁다는 반응들을 보여주십니다만, 고유의 귀여운 캐릭터와 깔끔한 스토리라인을 사용해 무거운 내용들로도 사람들과 쉽게 소통할 수 있다는 것이 작가로서의 제 가장 큰 매력이라고 생각합니다.
Der größte Reiz dieser Aktivität besteht darin, dass ich meine Zuneigung und Leidenschaft ausleben kann, solange ich die Kraft dazu habe. Es hat auch Vorteile, meine Gedanken und Gefühle bei dieser Arbeit visuell ausdrücken zu können und mit Menschen kommunizieren zu können und immer einen offenen Geist zu haben, der durch freies Denken und Vorstellen nie alt wird. Im Gegensatz zu hübschen Bildern zeigen sie Reaktionen darauf, dass der Inhalt schwer ist, aber ich denke, mein größter Charme als Künstler besteht darin, dass ich mit einzigartigen niedlichen Charakteren und sauberen Handlungssträngen leicht mit Menschen kommunizieren kann, selbst bei umfangreichen Inhalten.
If given the opportunity to collaborate, I think I will be able to enjoy it regardless of genre. The spectrum of platforms to which my works and characters are applied is wide, so I think collaboration with most art fields is possible. For example, I am interested in not only traditional types of arts such as literature and music, but also digital arts such as visual arts and VR games. In the future, I plan to set up a studio where I can continue to work on analog arts such as painting and printmaking, and continue to devote myself to both digital and analog fields to breathe life into my characters. Also, I am constantly planning projects that can be expanded to the metaverse and NFT markets, and I am trying to develop commercial capabilities that fit the trend of the times.
만약 저에게 콜라보를 할 수 있는 기회가 주어진다면 장르를 불문하고 즐겁게 할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 제 작품과 캐릭터가 적용되는 플랫폼의 스펙트럼이 넓어 대부분의 예술분야와 협업이 가능하다 생각합니다. 예를 들면 문학, 음악 같은 전통적인 유형의 예술뿐만아니라 영상예술, VR게임 분야 등 디지털 예술에도 관심이 있습니다. 향후 저는 페인팅과 판화 등 아날로그 예술도 지속적으로 작업 할 수 있는 스튜디오를 마련하여 디지털과 아날로그 두 방면으로 꾸준하게 정진하여 제 캐릭터들에 숨을 불어넣을 생각입니다. 또한 저는 꾸준히 메타버스와 NFT 시장으로 확장 가능한 프로젝트들을 기획 중이며, 시대의 흐름에 맞는 상업적 역량을 키워 나아가려 합니다.
Wenn ich die Gelegenheit zur Zusammenarbeit bekomme, denke ich, dass ich es unabhängig vom Genre genießen kann. Das Spektrum der Plattformen, auf denen meine Arbeiten und Charaktere angewendet werden, ist breit, daher denke ich, dass eine Zusammenarbeit mit den meisten Kunstbereichen möglich ist. Ich interessiere mich beispielsweise nicht nur für traditionelle Kunstformen wie Literatur und Musik, sondern auch für digitale Künste wie Bildende Kunst und VR-Spiele. Für die Zukunft plane ich, ein Atelier einzurichten, in dem ich weiterhin an analogen Künsten wie Malerei und Druckgrafik arbeiten und mich weiterhin sowohl digitalen als auch analogen Bereichen widmen kann, um meinen Charakteren Leben einzuhauchen. Außerdem plane ich ständig Projekte, die auf die Metaverse- und NFT-Märkte ausgeweitet werden können, und versuche, kommerzielle Fähigkeiten zu entwickeln, die dem Trend der Zeit entsprechen.
