My name is Mario Loprete. I was born in Catanzaro in 1968 and live only 9 hours from New York. This is the flight time that will take me to either the end or the beginning of my art career.
I've always drawn the world of hip hop. As I paint the faces of Snoop Dogg, Fabri Fibra, Amir and Sista Awa, I try to capture the messages they convey. Those messages always appeal to me. The artist must convey to the public an artistic interpretation of the world in which 'himself' lives. Every topic has a different message, but artists have a duty to make it a reality. I, too, live in a world that shapes me the way I want it to. I convey my thoughts and experiences through virtual, pictorial, and sculptural movements, and photograph reality through the filter of my mind. Through years of research and experimentation, I have continuously refined this process.

Mein Name ist Mario Loprete. Ich wurde 1968 in Catanzaro geboren und lebe nur 9 Stunden von New York entfernt. Dies ist die Flugzeit, die mich entweder zum Ende oder zum Beginn meiner künstlerischen Laufbahn bringen wird.
Ich habe schon immer die Welt des Hip Hop gezeichnet. Während ich die Gesichter von Snoop Dogg, Fabri Fibra, Amir und Sista Awa male, versuche ich, die Botschaften einzufangen, die sie vermitteln. Diese Botschaften sprechen mich immer an. Der Künstler muss der Öffentlichkeit eine künstlerische Interpretation der Welt vermitteln, in der „sich selbst“ lebt. Jedes Thema hat eine andere Botschaft, aber Künstler haben die Pflicht, sie Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Auch ich lebe in einer Welt, die mich so formt, wie ich es möchte. Ich übertrage meine Gedanken und Erfahrungen durch virtuelle, malerische und skulpturale Bewegungen und fotografiere die Realität durch den Filter meines Geistes. Durch jahrelange Forschung und Experimente habe ich diesen Prozess kontinuierlich verfeinert.
Working with concrete gives me a lot of satisfaction both personally and professionally. How did this work start? That was the result of my extensive research. For a long time, I was looking for something special that I felt I was missing all along. Looking back on my work over the past decade, I realize that there is a "spoken" of semantic and semiotic logic. But I couldn't easily find a way to bolster my looming inspiration.
콘크리트와 함께하는 작업들은 개인적으로나 직업적으로나 제게 많은 만족을 주고 있습니다. 이 작업이 어떻게 시작되었냐구요? 그것은 내 대대적인 조사의 결과였습니다. 오랫동안, 나는 내내 내가 놓치고 있다고 느꼈던 특별한 것을 찾고 있었습니다. 지난 10년 동안의 내 작업을 돌이켜보면서, 나는 어떤 의미론적, 기호론적 논리의 "발언"이 존재한다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 하지만 내가 어렴풋이 느끼는 영감을 강화할 방법을 쉽게 찾을 수 없었습니다.
Die Arbeit mit Beton bereitet mir persönlich und beruflich viel Freude. Wie hat diese Arbeit begonnen? Das war das Ergebnis meiner umfangreichen Recherche. Ich habe lange nach etwas Besonderem gesucht, das mir die ganze Zeit gefehlt hat. Wenn ich auf meine Arbeit der letzten zehn Jahre zurückblicke, stelle ich fest, dass es ein „Gesprochenes“ von semantischer und semiotischer Logik gibt. Aber ich konnte nicht so einfach einen Weg finden, meine drohende Inspiration zu stärken.
'I've been doing art for 40 years. If there are many works that I don't understand, how can ordinary people understand them?'

One day, an idea came to me.
'What if I added a little bit of 'me' to every piece of art I create?
One day, while thinking about it, another question arose.
'If art is brought to the streets to make art accessible to all, why can't we bring the 'city' to galleries and museums?'
These artistic questions inspired me.
어느 날, 아이디어가 떠올랐습니다. '내가 만드는 모든 예술 작품에 '나'를 조금씩 가미해본다면?'
생각을 거듭하던 어느 날, 또 다른 의문이 생겼습니다. '만일 모든 사람이 예술에 접근할 수 있도록 하기 위해 거리에 예술을 접목했다면, 반대로 우리가 '도시'를 갤러리와 박물관에 가져오지 못할 이유가 있을까?'
이 예술적인 질문들은 저에게 영감을 주었습니다.
Eines Tages kam mir eine Idee.
„Was wäre, wenn ich jedem Kunstwerk, das ich erschaffe, ein bisschen ‚ich‘ hinzufüge?
Eines Tages, als ich darüber nachdachte, tauchte eine andere Frage auf.
„Wenn Kunst auf die Straße gebracht wird, um sie allen zugänglich zu machen, warum können wir dann nicht die „Stadt“ in Galerien und Museen bringen?“
Diese künstlerischen Fragen haben mich inspiriert.
Concrete, a reinforced cement, was created by the Romans over 2000 years ago. Because of it, we can hear thousands of years old stories from amphitheaters, bridges and roads. Also, it can be found everywhere in modern society. Concrete is now synonymous with modernity. There are concrete walls everywhere you go. And within its walls are modern people. From Sydney to Vancouver to Oslo to Pretoria, this concrete exists. In this way, concrete is an element that composes the city, and to me it is regarded as the city itself.

Beton, ein bewehrter Zement, wurde vor über 2000 Jahren von den Römern geschaffen. Aus diesem Grund können wir Jahrtausende alte Geschichten von Amphitheatern, Brücken und Straßen hören. Außerdem ist es überall in der modernen Gesellschaft zu finden. Beton ist heute ein Synonym für Modernität. Überall stehen Betonwände. Und in seinen Mauern leben moderne Menschen. Von Sydney über Vancouver und Oslo bis Pretoria existiert dieser Beton. Auf diese Weise ist Beton ein Element, das die Stadt ausmacht, und wird für mich als die Stadt selbst betrachtet.
For me, painting is my first love, an important and pure love. From a young age I always drew and studied how to convey a message. It requires attention and research so that the small spark born inside each of us becomes like the flame burning in every artist's soul.
I use my own clothes in my work. I use plaster, resin, and cement to transform these clothes into works of art that can be hung or put on. My intention is that my DNA and my memories remain forever in the concrete, in this space, this region, this world. Fortunately, my work was evaluated positively. My work has been published in over 450 international magazines over the past five years, attracting the attention of important public institutions, museums and private collectors. 나에게 그림은 나의 첫사랑, 중요하고 순수한 사랑입니다. 어렸을 때 부터 나는 항상 그렸고, 메시지를 어떻게 전달할지 연구했습니다. 우리 모두의 내면에서 태어난 작은 불꽃이 모든 예술가의 영혼 속에서 타오르는 불꽃과 같이 되기 위해서는 관심과 연구가 필요합니다.
내 작품에는 내 옷을 사용합니다. 나는 석고, 레진, 시멘트를 사용하여 이 옷들을 걸거나 입힐 수 있는 예술 작품으로 변형시킵니다. 나의 취지는, 내 DNA와 내 기억이 영원히 콘크리트 안에, 이 공간, 이 지역, 이 세계에 남아 있다는 것입니다. 다행히도 내 작업은 긍정적으로 평가되고 있습니다. 내 작품은 지난 5년 동안 450개가 넘는 국제 잡지에 게재되어 중요한 공공기관, 박물관 및 개인 수집가들의 관심을 끌었습니다. 또한 2023년 6월 5일부터 미국 애리조나 주 프레스콧의 아바파이 칼리지 프레스콧 아트 갤러리에서, 2023년 8월 14일부터 미국 노스캐롤라이나 주 샬럿의 센트럴 피디먼트 커뮤니티 칼리지의 오버캐시 갤러리에서, 2023년 10월 1일부터 영국 난트윅의 난트윅 뮤지움에서 열리는 전시회가 예정되어 있습니다.
Malen ist für mich meine erste Liebe, eine wichtige und reine Liebe. Schon in jungen Jahren habe ich immer gezeichnet und gelernt, wie man eine Botschaft übermittelt. Es erfordert Aufmerksamkeit und Forschung, damit der kleine Funke, der in jedem von uns geboren wird, wie die Flamme wird, die in der Seele jedes Künstlers brennt.
Ich benutze meine eigene Kleidung bei meiner Arbeit. Ich verwende Gips, Harz und Zement, um diese Kleidungsstücke in Kunstwerke zu verwandeln, die aufgehängt oder angezogen werden können. Meine Absicht ist, dass meine DNA und meine Erinnerungen für immer im Konkreten bleiben, in diesem Raum, dieser Region, dieser Welt. Glücklicherweise wurde meine Arbeit positiv bewertet. Meine Arbeiten wurden in den letzten fünf Jahren in über 450 internationalen Zeitschriften veröffentlicht und erregten die Aufmerksamkeit wichtiger öffentlicher Institutionen, Museen und privater Sammler. A master who lived his whole life for his art - Vincent van Gogh - is my heart's beacon. Even if my life today seems worthless in the eyes of others, today's me will try for tomorrow's me. We all deserve far more than the people who judge you. Also, if there is something that can make you greater, accept it humbly.
평생 자신의 예술을 위해 살았던 한 거장-빈센트 반 고흐-을 나는 마음의 등대로 삼아 살아갑니다. 오늘 나의 삶이 남들의 눈에 가치가 없어보일지라도, 내일의 나를 위해 오늘의 나는 노력할 것입니다. 우리 모두는 함부로 당신을 판단하는 사람들보다 훨씬 더 가치가 있습니다. 또한 당신을 더욱 위대하게 만들 수 있는 무언가가 있다면, 겸손하게 받아들이십시오.
Ein Meister, der sein ganzes Leben für seine Kunst gelebt hat – Vincent van Gogh – ist der Leuchtturm meines Herzens. Auch wenn mein Leben heute in den Augen anderer wertlos erscheint, wird das Ich von heute sich um das Ich von morgen bemühen. Wir alle verdienen weit mehr als die Menschen, die Sie verurteilen.
